Horned up

I don't know what it is, but I've for sure been a little horny lately. Ryan's not complaining, but he may not be able to keep up!

I was feeling someone depressed the last couple of weeks so maybe this is the rebound from that. Anyways watch out, I might be putting out more!

Opera chorus offers

So I just got my offers for Opera chorus this coming season.

World premier of Silent Night, which is based off the script for the movie Joyeux Noel, which was an actual Christmas day truce during WWII. The Opera company has already workshopped the whole piece. The music is pretty amazing. They need a men's chorus of about 42 singers, only 2 female singing parts. Some very hard stuff, with lots of jarring almost atonal battle music, with some very fluid lyric choral writing for a lullaby in the first act.
Crazy music included a quadruple tonal section where the German, Scottish, and French Troops are off stage singing their battle hymns to a pedal orchestra, it's hard to explain, but the music just pulls off the different troops very well.
So this opera is sung in English, German, French, and Latin. This is the first opera I am aware of with this many languages at once.

And then I was also offered Lucia di Lammermoor and Madame Butterfly. These two will be back to back and I need to talk with Ryan about whether or not we want to do that again, but an extra paycheck is always nice:)

So far this is my singing schedule, besides my usual voice lesson schedule. Should be some good music to learn though!

I did do it!

Berry tart with hand whipped cream! Literally was with a whisk and a bowl. Berries came from the Garden center Ryan works at and also ones from last summer that we picked in I. Falls.
Also made Barefoot Contessa's Potato Salad and kitchen is cleaned already. Now I feel like I've accomplished a lot for the day. Next up is practicing and Fireworks.

Happy 4th!

Well, it's officially me and Ryan's second day off together in a less than a week. He just went to do some planting at a friends house and I am here to clean and cook for the day. We were talking about one of our friends being should a domestic person, ei...baking from scratch, canning, the such. I really feel that I could do this stuff if I had time off to actually do it. I think I might try to get to some of this today. Maybe bake a pie?!? I'm finally making some cold press coffee which I've been meaning to do for almost 2 months. Also making potato salad and possibly chicken salad. Yesterday Ryan and I had a delicious salad with grilled chicken. He made a marinade and we used the CSA assortment of greens and other edible things to make the salad: radishes, sweet peppers, carrots, pea tendrils, spinach, romaine, mesculin, garlic shoots, and I made a balsamic vinaigrette from scratch.

I really like cooking like this, but it's just a time factor. I also need to make my famous creme brulee, the key is using whole organic creme, non-homogenized which is harder to come by here in the states. Everything is over processed to increase self life.

Anyways, I should get back to my domestic duties:)

Hope everyone here in the states has a good 4th and enjoy the fireworks!

Everyone else, I'm still thinking about you!

My absence from LJ

Well,

I haven't really been absent, just reading everyones blogs and not taking the time to leave one of my own.

This was Pride Weekend in the Twin Cities and overall was a very enjoyable weekend. Got to see lots of friends and do a lot of people watching. This just makes me stop and notice that Ryan and I are very happy with each other and am I so glad to have him in my life. As I am typing this he has fallen asleep in the bedroom.
Along with Pride, New York just passed a law making Same-Sex marriage legal. This news really felt like a win in MN. Our proposed amendment is scheduled for November 2012. I have seen plenty of videos to call out the discrimination that this proposed amendment would write into our state constitution. I'm glad that people here in MN are being smart about this and hitting the ground running.

In other news I am busier than ever! Between work at the fitness center cafe, voice lessons, and yoga/working out, I have just been running ragged. Ryan has also been doing double duty between the garden center and his side gardening job with our friend's condo association. I have even had to come and help him. It's better that way, I don't mind it and he gets things done a little bit faster:)

I started doing Yoga about 2 months ago now, I love it, it's hard, but I really like the mental and physical benefits it offers me. My back pain has really gone away, I feel like my muscles have become a little more toned and I am also more aware of how my posture is and just overall body awareness which is essential for singing. I have been drawn to Ashtanga Yoga. I think what I like most about it is that your whole session is blocked out for you. Every time you do the routine it is the same. This allows for your mind to concentrate on the breath and also the body's movement within the breath. Ryan thought it was just a phase, but sometimes I like to prove him wrong:)

Last thing is Voice Lessons. I really enjoy my teacher. He is hard and blunt when he needs to be. He is not into coddling which is good because it gets you nowhere in the music business. I think that I am probably more serious about getting a career going than before. Lessons have really helped bring things into focus. Now is the time for me to really push myself into this career. If nothing happen by the time I hit 32 then I know I need to switch directions. Right now the plan is some smaller company auditions this fall for 2012 summer programs, and that by the fall 2012 auditions I should have enough technical background and vocal endurance to really compete for bigger opera programs. My job right now is just to stay focused and keep working on my technique and make it as flawless as possible. George's technique is based on the Richard Miller method for those of you singers out there. But he breaks it down into 4 main principles, breath, freedom from tension, posture, and freedom from pressure in the chest and throat. And using your speech model as the basis for your vowels and such.

Ok, big one for now. Maybe I will try to keep up so I don't have so much to download mentally!

FYFF

So never did this before. I know ranger7ryan has before so I should be safe.

I was just getting ready and had a "Taking Care of Business" moment. Hope you enjoy!

NSFW, no nudity though. Collapse )

Hotness I just ran across!

I Want your love
This is an art film/gay porn movie.

I hope everyone enjoys.

Life as of now!

So it's about time I update this thing. I am using the iPhone app because I downloaded the thing so I maybe should at least give it a try.

I really have not paid any attention to lj since I've had this phone. Most of the time I am either not at home, too tired to hop on the actual computer, or Ryan ranger7ryan is on it and I really don't need to kick him off.
Life has been fairly decent for me. The cafe is definitely wearing me out. Our Fringe show this summer sold out every performance. And now this following week I start rehearsals for MN opera. So my summer is almost over. No big trips like we planned on. But I feel like we've got more one on one friend time with some of our newer couples we've gotten to know.

Hopefully I can start keeping up on this thing again. I wish I could just read peoples journals right on the app though:(

Only one more day of my 9 days of work stretch. And my last day of the 4 twelve hour days. Yippie!!!
